We’re Glad to be Growing in West Virginia

It was a community party of sorts as 60 of our employees welcomed close to 400 area residents at a picnic in Moundsville, W.Va.

Williams is investing in natural gas pipelines and midstream infrastructure in the northern panhandle, and the Sunday afternoon “Picnic in the Park” was our way of getting acquainted with our neighbors.

While kids enjoyed inflatable bounce houses, yard games and face-painting clowns, information booths were staffed by our employees who answered questions and generally got acquainted with area neighbors, community leaders and merchants. One retailer, who sells clothing and boots, told us that her second-generation store was close to going out of business when Williams and other energy companies entered West Virginia. Now her kids’ college education is assured.

Today we have 109 employees in West Virginia and that number is growing. We expect to hire at least 70 more by year-end.

Wherever we operate, Williams invests in the community and we encourage our employees to get involved as community volunteers.

At the Moundsville community picnic, our general manger of Williams Ohio Valley Midstream, Darrell Bull, presented a large check to the outdoors retailer Cabela’s. The $10,000 grant will help with the restoration of Bear Rock Lake, a nearby state wildlife and recreational area. The Williams-Cabela partnership will allow for renovation of handicap access areas to allow more residents to enjoy the lake.

The Deal is Done; We’re Moving Westward in the Marcellus

Williams welcomed more than 50 employees from Caiman and is looking to hire many more in the upcoming months.

Remember when we announced our plans to expand westward in the Marcellus? Well, we’ve done it!

As of today, we have officially acquired Caiman Eastern Midstream’s assets in northern West Virginia, southwestern Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio. You can read the press release here.

This acquisition puts us in a “sweet spot” within the liquids-rich area of the Marcellus. We are currently working on expanding the existing physical assets we just purchased, which include a gathering system and a processing facility. Construction is also underway on fractionation and additional processing facilities and there are plans to build natural gas liquid (NGL) pipelines.

The folks in the picture above are just a few of the more than 50 new employees who have transitioned from Caiman to Williams in the past few days and we are excited to welcome them into our company.

We are looking to grow even more in the next few months and we want to hire locally. We need your talent – from operations to engineering, construction and other skills – to continue to expand our business in the Marcellus. We are excited to become part of your community and to help it grow.

That’s why we encourage you to log in to williams.com/careers and apply to any openings you may be interested in or share them with friends looking for great career opportunities.

Natural Gas Rerouted from Lathrop

Williams is temporarily rerouting natural gas flow from its Lathrop Compressor Station while inspections and repairs take place following a flash fire on Thursday, March 29.  The station is located near Springville in Susquehanna County, Pa.

Approximately 200 MMcf/d of natural gas is being diverted to the Wilcox Compressor Station for compression.

Preliminary results of the investigation showed that emergency shutdown equipment worked properly to isolate and minimize the incident and that emergency procedures were immediately activated.  Most of the damage occurred to the exterior of the station, while the majority of the equipment and flooring inside the building remain undamaged.

Williams would like to thank the local emergency responders, and the state police for their highly professional assistance.
